Teaching English Holistically

Teaching English is easy and fun as long as Learning English is easy and fun!

The Holisitc Didactics I'm developing makes learning and teaching fun and easy!
Holism requires paying attention to all aspects.
In this context, the teacher is to know that if students are bored, they won't learn as much;
if students are not explained grammar or do not drill grammar, they won't learn as much;
if students are afraid of making mistakes, they won't learn as much;
if students are not invited to explore, to risk, to play with the language, they won't learn as much.
Make grammar learning fun. Make texts analysis fun. Make writing fun.

By modifying (or even inventing!) games usually played in kindergarten, or in the lower forms of primary to the contents taught to Intermediate or Advanced teenage students, you can lead fun classes which will definitely be much more effective than the traditional ones.

Today, for example, I did some revision on Irregular Verbs with a group of FC students aged 15-17. And we had so much fun, I bet they've learned many of them!
We grouped the irregular verbs into categories according to their form. We wrote each group on a different colour sheet. We cut them out and we mixed them all.
I handed out some of these to all students and had them move around the classroom looking for the rest of their group. They set each group of verbs on three desks. After this, I divided them into groups of three. One  student of each group would raise one verb from their group for just 2 seconds,after which the other two students had to remember and repeat the verb shown -in its three forms. Then, these two seated sts had to complete the list of that group of verbs. And they would rotate roles.
After we'd had enough fun with this game,I gave them some written drilling exercises. Cannot imagine the level of concentration that was established in the class! Yes,of course, the first part of the class had been noisy, very! A productive, fun noise it had been!
